Map of BWCAW Closure Areas Due to Wildfires

The USFS has closed the region of the BWCAW west of Basswood Lake and north of the Echo Trail in an abundance of caution due to wildfires burning in Quetico Provincial Park immediately north of the BWCAW. Groups currently in the closure area are being notified by USFS rangers traveling by canoe to leave the closure area. No new groups are allowed to enter the closed area at any time. The closure order for the area does not include an end date, and we suspect the closure may last several weeks. We are advising clients who have entry permits for the closed area during the months of July and August to book an alternative entry permit.
